Who We Are

SITE integrates three things that usually happen separately: housing development, workforce training, and land restoration. We create the housing communities need, while training the next generation of builders and preparing the land that others have neglected and overlooked

As a HUD-certified Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO), we’re one of the few organizations in Kansas City with this designation. It means we can develop housing while building the local workforce capacity to make it sustainable.

Three Pillars. One System.

Housing Development

We build universally designed homes for the communities we work in and live in. Universal design means homes that work for everyone, from young families to aging residents. Our projects serve as both housing and hands-on training sites where people learn by doing real construction work.

Workforce Training

We train people for construction careers right here in Kansas City. Program participants learn environmental assessment, energy-efficient building techniques, and universal design by working on actual development projects. They graduate with real experience, not just classroom knowledge.

Land Remediation

We transform overlooked and environmentally challenging sites into buildable land. Program participants learn site assessment and preparation while creating opportunities for housing development. Land that was vacant becomes the foundation for both homes and careers.

Our Impact

We envision a pipeline that converts vacant and environmentally challenged parcels into development-ready sites while building permanent community capacity for environmental assessment, construction, and housing development.
